Tickets released for ‘ground breaking’ State of the Far North

Tickets for the 2026 State of the Far North - Te Taumata o Te Hiku o te Ika are now available, with invitations issued today (Tuesday 3 February) to leaders across Te Ao Māori, business, politics. There is also an open invitation to the wider community to secure their tickets (via a link below) as part of Far North District Council’s annual district-wide engagement programme.

Shifting Gears – The Road Ahead, the theme of this year’s address on Thursday 26 February, will build on the success of the inaugural address by highlighting the progress made since the huge challenges faced by the council in 2024 after a series of devastating storms.

The inaugural State of the Far North address in November 2024, was a first for local government in Aotearoa New Zealand, and set a new benchmark for the way councils share their vision. The straightforward tone of the event was also well-received by the media. Radio New Zealand described it as “a groundbreaking approach to local government transparency.”

The same tone will underpin this year’s event, as the council forges ahead with newly elected members focused on effective and innovative strategies. Exciting announcements and updates on major projects are also on the agenda.

Held at Kerikeri’s Turner Centre, the State of the Far North invites the wider community to engage in one of the district’s key annual conversations, hear directly about progress and priorities, and connect with leaders and organisations shaping the future of the Far North.

Secure your tickets early here as seating is limited.

Those interested in how the district’s journey has evolved can view last year’s full presentation here, providing valuable context for this year’s address.
