Get ready for some wheely cool fun at Cruz’n the Bayz
Anticipation is revving up across the Far North for the annual Cruz’n the Bayz which gets into gear this week.
The popular multi-day classic car, hot rod, muscle car, and bike event brings together whānau, locals and motoring enthusiasts, with our towns humming with the sound of engines, live music, and community fun.
The free event hits the road on Thursday 5 March from 5pm at Waitangi Golf Course. The following day, the cars visit Ngaere Bay, Tauranga Bay, Whangaroa Harbour, Waipapa, and Paihia.
On Saturday 7 March, the event is at the Kerikeri Domain for the Kerikeri Klassic Car Show before heading to Paihia. On the final day, on Sunday 8 March, the cars will be in Ōpua, then to Paihia waterfront for the Badazz Street Festival.
Cruz'n the Bayz, which also turns the headlights on the Far North's stunning scenery, warm manaakitanga, and kai from local vendors, was granted $5000 in December towards the event by the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board.
Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board has previously backed the event with funding. This reflects the value it places on community-led initiatives that bring people together, strengthens aroha across towns, and contributes to a shared sense of place.
Cruz’n the Bayz also brings a significant economic boost, attracting participants and visitors from around the country to sample accommodation, hospitality and other Far North services.
