Adaptation
He aha tēnei mea te urutau? | What is adaptation?
Adaptation is about preparing for and responding to the impacts of climate change. There are different adaptation approaches and different adaptation options, from implementing green infrastructure to developing early warning systems.
Te Hōtaka Urutau Hapori | Community Adaptation Programme
The Community Adaptation Programme brings together Council's adaptation work in Te Hiku o Te Iku and across Te Taitokerau. The programme is still in development and a programme plan will be ready mid-2025.
Right now, there are three main workstreams.
Pou 1 Community Adaptation Planning
Pou 2 Tangata Whenua-Led Adaptation
Pou 3 Community Adaptation Toolkits
We are in the process of building and preparing to rollout the Community Adaptation Programme. More information will be coming on each Pou in mid-late 2025.
Please lodge a Request For Service (RFS) with council to the Climate Action and Resilience Team if you would like to discuss adaptation further or email climate.action@fndc.govt.nz.
