Mouth-watering magic to Savour in Northland

Jaw dropping, mouth-watering goodness on offer at Savour Northland in October is set to satisfy a full range of tastes and budgets – but you may need a glass of wine and a lie down to decide which events to choose.

The festival runs for the month of October with more than 120 events in six different hubs across the region including Savour The Far North and Savour The Bay of Islands.

Corks will pop from Wednesday 1 October to Friday 31 October, as local produce is whipped up with culinary expertise and paired with the best of Northland’s wineries and breweries. Epic Far North views will set the backdrop to events that include sailing cruises, vintage train journeys, ferry trips, intimate long lunches, tasteful opera nights, relaxed sundowners, foraging workshops, celebrity chefs, drag bingo, blues and barbeques … and everything in between.

From Pacific-fusion to Japanese multi-dish dinners, and beer fests to champagne and canapes, Savour Northland returns for its second year thanks in part to funding from the Far North’s three community boards for signage, programming information and promoting the district as a culinary destination. The funding, described by organisers as ‘vital’ for maximising the visibility of the festival, included $10,000 from Bay of Islands-Whangaroa, $4025 from Te Hiku, and $2106 from Kaikohe-Hokianga community boards.

Far North District venues stretch from the Hokianga, Kaitāia, Awanui and Mangōnui to Bay of Islands’ hubs in Kerikeri, Paihia, Russell and Kawakawa.

Local and visiting foodies are invited to ‘taste the treasures of Tai Tokerau’ in the region-wide celebration of Northland’s delicious fresh produce, amazing seafood, world-class wines and award-winning restaurants. The programme invites you to savour Northland your way.
