Expressions of interest open for external committee roles
Are you interested in taking a leadership role in local decision making? Far North District Council is inviting expressions of interest from experienced leaders to serve as chairpersons, deputy chairpersons on select council committees.
Roles available:
- Chairperson — Te Miromiro Committee (Assurance, Risk & Finance)
- Deputy Chair — Te Koekoeā Committee (Council Controlled Organisations)
- Deputy Chair — Te Koukou Committee (Transport & Infrastructure)
- Chairperson — Te Huia Committee (Chief Executive Performance).

What we’re looking for
We welcome expressions from candidates who can demonstrate:
- Proven governance experience (board/committee leadership), sound judgement, and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Subject‑matter strengths relevant to the committee’s remit.
- Commitment to upholding public sector values, statutory obligations, and robust management of conflicts of interest.
- The ability to attend the majority of committee meetings in person.
Eligibility
Appointments are open to suitably qualified individuals who are not current elected members or employees of FNDC.
Selection process and key dates
Following expressions of interest, an interview and assessment process will be undertaken in late January, prior to the council approving appointments to the positions. Please be aware that your application information will be confidentially shared with select councillors for shortlisting purposes.
