Temporary closures signal the beginning of vital work in central Kaitāia

Works to improve daily life for residents in central Kaitāia begin on Tuesday night (March 17), when crews start targeted pavement repairs along Commerce Street.

The repairs are aimed at improving safety and reducing ongoing potholes.

Fulton Hogan will carry out the pavement repairs from 17 to 19 March over three nights to avoid major disruptions during the day.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • crews will set up on site from 5.30pm, and road closures will be in place from 7pm to 5am each night
  • the closures affect Commerce Street, running from Te Reinga Street to Blencowe Street, and from Empire Street to Redan Road
  • detours will be in place and emergency access maintained. The footpath will remain open to maintain access for businesses.

Motorists are asked to slow down around the worksite and follow the directions of contractors.
