BOI road closures for film crew

Russell, Paihia and Waitangi are set to feature as locations in a film by Lippy Pictures, which is bringing a 70-strong crew to the Bay of Islands for three weeks in June and July.
Details of the film are under wraps, but road closures will be required to bring the locations to the big screen. The shoot starts on Wednesday 18 June and runs to Thursday 10 July.
Traffic control will be in place on:
- Wednesday 18 June – Bayview Road, Paihia
- Thursday 19 June – Tau Henare Drive, Waitangi
- Sunday 22 June – SH11 Tohitapu Road, Paihia
- Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 June – Cass Street, York Street, and The Strand, Russell-Kororāreka.
Ōpua is also on the filming schedule, but no road closures will be required.
The large crew will be staying locally during the shoot and production management has been working closely with the council, iwi and other stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to residents while filming.
The council supports this kaupapa, which showcases Far North locations and will help boost the local economy.
