How coastal erosion is affecting Freese Park

Coastal erosion occurs when land is lost due to waves and tidal action. The beachfront at Freese Park has eroded steadily over the years and this is now impacting nearby private and Council-owned facilities. Experts predict this erosion will continue at a rate of about 0.7m each year. That's a lot of land! Approximately 9m was lost between 2011-2019 to the Hokianga Harbour. Time is of the essence.
