Free shuttle service for festival go-ers

Country music fans will have an easier time hitting the dance floor this weekend at the Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival, thanks to a free shuttle service funded by the local community board.
The three-day festival, kicking off on Friday 9 May, is a major highlight for the region, featuring more than 40 acts across six venues.
The complimentary shuttle bus – available to all badge holders – will run regular routes between venues in Paihia and Russell, with additional stops at selected local accommodation providers. The Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board has contributed $2700 to support the cost of the service.
This year’s festival lineup includes the acclaimed Sisters in Country, along with a wide mix of artists representing various country sub-genres, set to delight both locals and visitors alike.
Festival-goers can also purchase a weekend ferry pass, allowing unlimited passenger ferry trips between Paihia and Russell. Passes are available at the Scenic Hotel in Paihia and the Nauti Penguin in Russell.
