Community invited to share feedback on Kaikohe’s Memorial Park
Kaikohe residents are being asked to have a say on how a very popular park and playground in the town will be managed and used in the future.
The council is developing a Reserve Management Plan for Kaikohe's Memorial Park and is seeking public input via a survey to help ensure the plan accurately represents local values and priorities for the park’s future. The survey asks respondents to say what aspects of the park are important to them, how they currently enjoy the park, and what aspirations they might have for the park.
Memorial Park is located on the corner of Memorial Avenue and Station Road and is a valued community gathering place that supports recreation, relaxation, and community connection. The area of the park has a history that includes significant events and historic conflicts .
In 2023, the park underwent a major upgrade that introduced new sports and play areas, along with artwork celebrating Kaikohe’s culture and history. The Reserve Management Plan will build on this work by setting out a long-term approach to maintaining and developing the park.
Alongside input from local hapū, the council is inviting residents to provide feedback before a draft plan is prepared.
To learn more, head to the consultation page and complete the online survey. Submissions can also be made via email to submissions@fndc.govt.nz, in person at any of our service centres or libraries (where submission forms can be printed on request), or by mail.
All feedback must be received by Sunday 14 December 2025.
Please note: Social media comments are not counted as formal feedback. It is very important to fill in the online survey so your views are included.
