Far North RockQuest comeback hits the right note

A Far North Creative Communities grant has helped bring RockQuest back to centre stage in the region, leading to a national scholarship win for a Kerikeri student.

The $1000 supported the first Far North RockQuest heat in 14 years, which aims to give local talent a a chance to shine on the national stage.

Among those was Kerikeri High School student and solo musician Kosta Silich, who competed against students from across Aotearoa. His performance placed him among the top 50 RockQuest participants nationwide, making him eligible to apply for the prestigious Chloe Wright Scholarship.

Kosta successfully secured the Chloe Wright Scholarship, which has helped him begin his studies towards a Bachelor of Popular Music at Victoria University in Wellington, supporting both tuition and related study costs, and recognising his musical achievement and potential.
More information about the scholarship is available on the RockQuest website.

The Far North Creative Communities scheme is funded by Creative New Zealand under the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and administered locally by Far North District Council.
