Our Facilities

We maintain a range of facilities for Far North residents and visitors, including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, walkways and reserves. We also own and maintain toilets, wharves and pontoons, cemeteries, libraries, community halls and housing for the elderly.

 

Cemeteries

Learn about the 11 council-maintained cemeteries, community run cemeteries and search our cemetery database.

Community centres

There are 30 community centres and halls available for public use in the Far North.

Drones over Council land

This form allows public to register a request to fly drones over Council land.

Housing for the Elderly

The Council offers Housing for the Elderly units in 12 complexes across the district to eligible tenants over the age of 60 and who are on a benefit.

Parks, playgrounds and reserves

We maintain around 500 hectares of parks and reserves in over 30 locations throughout the Far North.

Toilets

There are public toilets at many locations throughout the district.

Sport and recreation

We have over 500 hectares of public land, and maintain 228 hectares of public space, which includes 28 playgrounds and 3 skateboard parks.

Swimming Pools

We operate four public swimming pools in the Far North. These are located at Kaikohe, Kerikeri, Kawakawa and Kaitaia.
