Volunteer Clean-Up Support Application

Litter and illegal dumping are challenges across Aotearoa, and the beautiful Far North is no exception. That's why council is proud to support community clean-up efforts with free waste drop-off at one of our facilities.

To keep everyone safe while making a difference, we ask that you submit your application for approval before your clean-up event and complete a Risk Assessment and Health & Safety Management Plan alongside your application.

Let's work together to keep our whenua clean and thriving - we're here to help!

Eligibility criteria

  • The clean-up event must take place on council-managed roads to qualify for support.
  • The clean-up must be a volunteer-led community event
  • A Risk Assessment and Health & Safety Management Plan must be submitted and approved by council prior to the event
  • Waste must be dropped off at an approved transfer station. You can find a full list of transfer station locations here.

Important: If you're planning to tidy up along a State Highway, please reach out directly to Waka Kotahi - NZ Transport Agency.
