Local election candidate profiles now online

You can now view information about the candidates standing in the upcoming local elections (2022) online. Find the links here.

Far North electors unsure who to vote for in the upcoming local elections can now learn more about candidates on the Far North District Council website.

Each candidate was given a 150-word limit to detail their background, local government experience, where they live, connection to the Far North, guiding principles, personal characteristics, and professional goals. Candidates could also provide a 150-word version in Te Reo Māori.

The same profiles will be included in a printed booklet to be posted to all Far North electors along with voting papers from Friday 16 September 2022 – the day postal voting begins.

Of the 90 candidates who are confirmed in the local election, three will be elected unopposed. They are Jane Hindle (Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board, Russell-Ōpua subdivision), Tyler Bamber (Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board, Waipapa subdivision), and Bruce Mills (Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board, Whangaroa subdivision).

You can access the online candidate profiles here - then click on the ‘Candidate profiles’ drop down menu and select the candidate by name.
