Mahere ā Tau – Annual Plan 2026/27
The Annual Plan sets the council’s budget and priorities for the 12 months ahead from 1 July, and we are inviting feedback from the community. It is prepared in the years between Long Term Plans and outlines what we plan to deliver over the coming year.
A review of budgets for the Annual Plan 2026/27 has been completed, focusing on day-to-day costs and alignment with the Long Term Plan (LTP) 2024/27. This ensures we stay on track with our commitments while managing costs responsibly, with the overall budget and rates consistent with what was previously signalled.
All feedback will be collated and presented to elected members before the final Annual Plan is adopted ahead of the new financial year on 1 July 2026.
Here’s what we are proposing / Anei tā mātou e whakatakoto nei
The Annual Plan 2026/27 outlines the key projects, services and investment planned for the year ahead, how these will be funded, and includes supporting information to help you understand what this means for you.
- Proposed Capital Works Programme
- Proposed Financial Information
- Proposed Funding Impact Statement
You can also explore what you get for your rates dollar and view sample rates graphs showing how different property types may be affected.
What’s happening with rates?
The rates increase for 2026/27 is 6.7 per cent, as outlined in the LTP 2024–27. Elected members explored options to reduce this at their 1 April council meeting. However, with rising costs across materials, services and infrastructure, it was agreed to maintain the current level of funding to ensure essential work can continue to be delivered.
