A former UK local government chief executive with international management experience is joining the Far North District Council as its new General Manager – Corporate Services.
William Taylor has 25 years of public sector experience, including 14 years as CEO of West Lancashire Council. More recently he has worked across Australasia as a local government consultant specialising in performance and efficiency improvement, shared services, and executive recruitment, coaching and mentoring.
In 2010, Mr Taylor was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to Local Government.
Far North District Council CEO Shaun Clarke says he is delighted by the appointment. “Will brings with him extensive experience gained across many facets of local government. I am confident he will quickly make a positive contribution to the Far North and I welcome both him and his family to our corner of the world.”
Mr Taylor will begin his role on Tuesday 4 June and will be joined in the Far North by his wife and son within the next few months.
Mr Taylor replaces Samantha Edmonds, who returned to Australia to take up a role within the health sector late last year.
