$80,000 to Far North community events
Nine community events across the Far North's three wards have successfully secured funding from the Events Investment Fund.
Nine community events across the Far North's three wards have successfully secured funding from the Events Investment Fund.
A total of $80,000 was available, but the investment fund received a bumper 27 applications seeking a total of $531,949. Te Hiku Ward received $15,000, the Kaikohe-Hokianga Ward received $17,500, and the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Ward received $47,500.
Event organisers had until 18 August to apply for funding to cover venue or equipment hire, catering, or other costs associated with running an event.
Events to receive funding are:
Te Hiku Ward:
- $7,500 to Aupōuri Rugby Club – Parengarenga Surfcasting Competition
- $7,500 to Doubtless Bay Fishing Competition
Kaikohe-Hokianga Ward:
- $7,500 to Pawarenga United Marae Sports Day
- $10,000 to Te Mauri o Kaikohekohe
Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Ward:
- $5,000 to Waitangi Mountain Bike Mahi Tahi 2024
- $7,500 to Kerikeri Half Marathon 2023
- $10,000 to Waitangi ANZAC Day 2024
- $10,000 to Matariki Pewhairangi 2024
- $15,000 to Beach Volleyball Pro Tournament
Unsuccessful events were referred to relevant community boards which considered funding applications during their October meetings.
