Summer is upon us and that got us thinking about how planning for a happy holiday is a bit like planning for a thriving future when our climate is changing.

Summer in the Far North is a special time, as whānau flock to the coast to enjoy the sunshine, often with their dogs in tow. With beaches being busier over the holiday period, we would like to remind dog owners that a little extra care helps everyone enjoy a safe and relaxed summer.

Retailers are doing their bit to get the water conservation message out to residents and visitors by displaying the council’s Tiaki ngā wai-branded signs. The signs outline what the council’s four water restriction levels mean, what restriction level currently applies to that town and, through simple icons, explain what water use is allowed at each level.

A new rent-setting approach has been confirmed that will better support elderly tenants while keeping the council-run Housing for the Elderly service affordable for ratepayers.
