Soft landings restored across district playground

Far North District Council has completed its annual programme to replenish soft fall surfaces at playgrounds across the district, helping ensure play areas remain safe and enjoyable for children and families.

The work involved topping up and restoring soft fall material at every council playground as part of a planned maintenance programme. Soft fall – usually bark chips – helps to cushion falls from playground equipment. It is an important safety feature that requires regular replenishment as the material naturally settles and decays over time.

By completing the programme across the district, council is maintaining playgrounds to a safe standard while extending the life of these popular community facilities. Regular maintenance also helps ensure families can continue to enjoy playgrounds throughout the year.
