We maintain a range of facilities for Far North residents and visitors, including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, walkways and reserves. We also own and maintain toilets, wharves and pontoons, cemeteries, libraries, community halls and housing for the elderly.

The existing library

The existing library at Marino Place in Kaikohe has a large New Zealand collection, and also holds the specialist Fen Barrett Collection.

As well as free public internet and WiFi, low cost photocopying, printing and scanning services, the library offers a range of programmes including Storytime and Bookchat, JP services and Skinny Jump.

Board games, a guitar, art markers, Lego and other toys for children are also available to library members.

The site where the new library and civic hub will be located is the corner of Raihara Street and Broadway in Kaikohe. This is about 80m away from the current location of the Kaikohe Library.
