Creative Communities applications now open

Group and individuals involved in local arts and cultural projects in the Far North can now apply for financial support.

Group and individuals involved in local arts and cultural projects in the Far North can now apply for financial support.

Funding applications for the Creative Communities Scheme are open until 9 November 2023 for any creative activity relating to language, literature, performing arts and visual arts.

Creative New Zealand supports more than 1800 projects every year in New Zealand through the Creative Communities Scheme, administered in our area by the Far North Creative Communities Committee.

One-off additional funding has been received to be granted towards smaller community-led events and festivals and the committee encourages organisers of those activities to apply. The event or festival must have already run at least once within the last five years.

Applications for artistic endeavours and projects are also being accepted for this quarter.

The Creative Communities Scheme can fund:

  • materials for arts activities or programmes
  • venue or equipment hire
  • personnel and administrative costs for short-term projects
  • promotion and publicity of arts activities.

Funding decisions are made by the Creative Communities Committee, which is made up of representatives of Community Arts Councils, community representatives and council representatives. The board is also looking for new members from the Te Hiku area.

If you want to know more about being a committee member, email funding@fndc.govt.nz.
