Far North Link services free on 22 December

Free bus travel will be just the ticket this Friday, making it easy to head into town for last-minute shopping or a visit to friends and whānau.

Free bus travel will be just the ticket this Friday, making it easy to head into town for last-minute shopping or a visit to friends and whānau.

Far North Link will be free all day on 22 December for the Kaitāia to Mangōnui service and drivers will have some festive giveaways for passengers. You can view the timetable here.

The Far North Link has a revised timetable over the Christmas period, with normal services resuming on Monday 8 January.

  • Wed 27 Dec & 3 Jan – Ahipara Shoppers Run
  • Thurs 28 Dec & 4 Jan – Pukenui Shoppers Run and Pak N Save Loop Run
  • Fri 29 Dec & 4 Jan – Mangōnui Shoppers Run

The Far North Link is also running a new summer beach service. You can head to the beach from Kaitāia or get into town for the Saturday Farmer’s Market. The new service launched last week and runs between Kaitāia, Ahipara and Awanui every Saturday until 10 February. It does three runs on a loop, leaving Kaitāia at 7.30am, 10am and noon.

Councillor Joe Carr, chair of Northland Regional Council’s Northland Regional Transport Committee, says the beach buses are a great way to take the stress out of your travels by leaving the car at home as well as reducing carbon emissions.

Passenger can visit the BusLink website or Facebook page for revised bus timetables during the Christmas period. No buses will run on public holidays.
