Half price discount for Hokianga ferry extended

Hokianga Ferry users can continue to enjoy cheaper travel for longer as the Government has extended half price passenger fares until 31 January 2023.

Hokianga Ferry users can continue to enjoy cheaper travel for longer as the Government has extended half price passenger fares until 31 January 2023.

Walk on and vehicle passengers have been enjoying a 50 per cent reduction in fares since 1 April 2022, when the Government first introduced the discount for public transport users.

The Government recently announced additional cost of living support and measures to reduce inflation by extending the reductions to fuel excise duty, road user charges and half-price public transport until the end of January next year.

The fare reduction, which applies to all passengers regardless of whether walk on or drive on as a passenger with a vehicle (vehicles are excluded), was due to finish at the end of June but has now been extended by five months.

A single journey for a passenger will continue to be $1 until 31 January 2023.
