Kerikeri Road and Hobson Ave to close for night works

Two busy Kerikeri roads will be closed at night between Tuesday 26 April to Wednesday 4 May for resurfacing.

Two busy Kerikeri roads will be closed at night between Tuesday 26 April to Wednesday 4 May for resurfacing.

The work will be undertaken first on Kerikeri Road and will then move onto Hobson Avenue. Traffic management and detours will be in place nightly when works begin at 7pm.

Work on Kerikeri Road will commence outside the BP Service Station and continue through to the roundabout at the intersection of Butler Road and Hobson Avenue. This work will run from 27 April to 1 May. Work on Hobson Ave is scheduled to begin at 7pm on Monday 2 May and will continue through to 4 May.

The work is part of a regular renewal programme that ensures road surfaces are well-maintained to prevent more expensive and disruptive repairs in the future. It will consist of milling or removing the road surface, followed by resurfacing with asphalt. The work programme will be weather dependent, so dates may change.

All businesses along the two roads have been informed of the work via a letter drop. Businesses that operate at night have also been contacted directly. Contractors will ensure that work near the Cathay Cinema on Hobson Avenue will be undertaken later in the evening to minimise disruption for patrons.

Electronic messaging boards are now in place at approaches to the work areas, ensuring that the community is well-informed and can change their travel plans if necessary.

The maintenance and resurfacing work was originally planned to start on 19 April. To minimise disruption to holiday makers in the Kerikeri area, it was delayed until after the ANZAC Day long weekend and school holidays.
