Moerewa welfare centre opened

A welfare centre has opened at Moerewa after localised flooding in the Ōtiria area this evening.

The Moerewa Christian Fellowship church located at 52 State Highway 1 in Moerewa has been opened to offer welfare and shelter for anyone who wishes to leave their home or who is unable to get home due to flooding in the area.

No one has been asked to evacuate from their homes so far, although police and FENZ are liaising with and assisting a small number of householders most likely to be affected by the flood waters.
