Resurfacing of Heritage Bypass over four nights

Night works on the bypass in Kerikeri start this Sunday at 6.30pm for four consecutive nights, with the road reopening each day from 5.30am to operate as normal. The resurfacing work will prevent more expensive and disruptive repairs in the future.

Resurfacing the Heritage Bypass in Kerikeri will start this Sunday 5 March as part of a regular maintenance programme to prevent more expensive and disruptive repairs in the future. The maintenance work is being carried out over four consecutive nights to minimise disruption to road users.

During the night works, access will be reduced to one lane with stop/go traffic management in place. Residents are being warned there will be delays and to expect noise from heavy machinery. Motorists travelling through the affected area at night will need to exercise caution, with heavy machinery in operation. No street parking will be available at night during the works.

Work on the bypass, which runs from the Waipapa Road roundabout to the Kerikeri Road roundabout (next to the Cornerstone Church), will begin at 6.30pm each night from Sunday until Wednesday (8 March). The road will reopen each morning at 5.30am and operate as normal during the day.

Work includes removing the existing road surface with a milling machine, then resurfacing it with new asphalt. The work will start south of the Waipapa roundabout and continue to the northern end of the bridge to the gully.

Residents directly affected have been notified by mail about the works which are weather dependent.
