Sea Scouts to stay at seaside location

Paihia Sea Scouts was granted a new ground lease of three years for its base at Waitangi during a recent council meeting.

Paihia Sea Scouts was granted a new ground lease of three years for its base at Te Kemara Avenue in Waitangi during a council meeting last Thursday (24 August).

The three-year lease brings the sea scouts’ lease in line with that of Paihia Kindergarten, which is located at the same address.

The council’s decision to renew the lease followed a Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board recommendation that Scouts Aotearoa continue to use the 238 square metre plot. A 2023/24 lease fee of $118 plus GST will be reviewed annually.
