VIDEO - Kaitiaki Rangers ride again
The Far North’s Kaitiaki Rangers will be patrolling popular beaches and tourist hotspots again this summer to ensure the environment is protected and campgrounds are safe for holidaymakers.
For the past six years, the Far North’s Kaitiaki Rangers have patrolled popular beaches and tourist hotspots around the district reminding visitors about fire bans, driving on beaches, littering, toileting, and the care of sand dunes, and flora and fauna.
Originally created as part of the Freedom Camping Transition Fund by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), the Kaitiaki Rangers programme is a collaboration between Far North District Council, Northland Regional Council, the Department of Conservation and local hapū.
Kaitiaki will again be on duty ensuring summer hotspots are protected and safe for holidaymakers.
