VIDEO - Recycling: How to and why

Far North District Council solid waste engineer, Simon Millichamp, shows how easy it is to dispose of old whiteware, used car batteries, plastics, glass, cans and broken electronic appliances so that they don’t end up contaminating the whenua.

Eighty per cent of household rubbish can be recycled. Taking a little time each week to sort your rubbish significantly reduces the total we send to landfill. That’s great for our environment and reduces the cost of disposing of our waste.

In this video, Far North District Council solid waste engineer, Simon Millichamp, shows how easy it is to dispose of old whiteware, used car batteries, plastics, glass, cans and broken electronic appliances so that they don’t end up contaminating the whenua. Simon also covers why recycling is important - for reasons that are not just about the environment.
