Bilingual signs featuring both English and Te Reo Māori have been attached to the playground equipment warning users against climbing on the outside of the tunnel slides and towers.
The playground opened on Friday 19 August and was an instant hit with children and families from around the Far North. However, recent reports of people climbing on the outside of playground equipment is creating a safety risk to climbers and other playground users. It also risks damaging the playground equipment.
The playground cost around $800,000 and is part of the wider Kerikeri Domain Revitalisation Project.
