Meeting information now easier to access

Far North District Council is making it easier to access and search meeting information online.

Far North District Council is making it easier to access and search meeting information online.

The Council this week joins over 230 councils in New Zealand and Australia to adopt the Infocouncil software package that makes it easy to produce meeting reports, create agendas and track the outcome of meeting decisions.

Infocouncil also uses the Google text search engine to make finding meeting information easier and quicker online.

General Manager – Corporate Services (Acting), Janice Smith, says that aside from receiving much improved search results, the public will notice very little change in the way they currently access meeting information online.

“The meeting calendar on the FNDC website will still be used to locate past and future council meetings. Those dates will automatically take readers to the relevant agendas and minutes, except they will hosted on the new Infocouncil portal where they can be read as either an HTML webpage or as a PDF document. PDF documents can be downloaded and read offline. Infocouncil is configured for tablets and mobile phones, so information can be accessed while you are on the move.”

She says Council staff have used the Infocouncil software to produce reports, agendas and minutes since August 2018 and the new system has already improved the efficiency of administering meeting documents, and has saved time in tracking resolutions and the actions taken.

Minutes and agendas from 2016 to the present are now accessible using the new portal. Older records are available upon request from governance@fndc.govt.nz
