The Kaitāia Saturday Market will continue to be held at Melba Avenue carpark (the old Warehouse carpark) after the council approved the market’s license to occupy for another 12-month term.
The Kaitāia Saturday Market has been held at the Melba Avenue carpark since early 2000 under a Licence to Occupy Agreement and provides considerable value to the town and has proven to be very popular.
With the Licence to Occupy now due for renewal, Te Hiku Community Board reviewed the licence and recommended that the council renew the agreement. Its recommendation said that the market pulls the community together, promotes local business and attracts visitor spending to the area.
At its 1 June meeting, the council approved a new Licence to Occupy for Melba Avenue carpark (Lot 3 DP 179628 NA110D/257) giving a 12-month term and a right to renew.
