We maintain a range of facilities for Far North residents and visitors, including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, walkways and reserves. We also own and maintain toilets, wharves and pontoons, cemeteries, libraries, community halls and housing for the elderly.

VIDEO - New council sworn in for next three years

29 October 2025

Kahika Moko Tepania was sworn in as mayor by council CEO Guy Holroyd at a pōwhiri welcoming council and community board members who were successful in the local election. New deputy mayor Kohepu Chicky Rudkin and the remaining councillors-elect were formally sworn in for the Far North District Council at the ceremony today (Wednesday 29 October) at the Kaikohe Memorial Hall.
