Local suppliers hit the road to new opportunities

A networking opportunity for more local businesses to deliver the council’s road maintenance and renewal work after an event in Kaitāia brought together the council, Amotai, lead contractors Ventia and Fulton Hogan, and local suppliers.

Under the council’s new road maintenance and renewals contracts, lead contractors Ventia, which covers the southern roading area, and Fulton Hogan, covering the northern area, are required to direct at least 30 per cent of the annual contract value to Far North small and medium-sized enterprises.

Representatives from the council, Ventia and Fulton Hogan shared information about contracts and outlined opportunities for local businesses to contribute to road maintenance and renewal projects across the district.

One-on-one networking sessions gave suppliers an opportunity to introduce their businesses, discuss the services they provide and explore potential partnerships with the lead contractors. The sessions also helped Ventia and Fulton Hogan explain procurement pathways, and learn more about the skills, services and capabilities available from businesses based in the Far North.

Hosted by Amotai the event supported Amotai’s role connecting Māori and Pasifika-owned businesses with procurement opportunities.
