Better visibility ahead for Heritage Bypass

Far North District Council contractors will carry out vegetation maintenance along sections of the Heritage Bypass in Kerikeri next week, from Tuesday 28 July to Friday 31 July 2026 (weather permitting) to improve visibility, safety and the long-term management of roadside vegetation.

Traffic management will be set up from approximately 6am, with work taking place between 9am and 3pm each day.

On Tuesday, traffic management will extend across the Heritage Bypass and multiple side roads. Motorists can expect stop/go traffic control, temporary traffic signals, and a temporary 30km/h speed limit through work sites.

On Wednesday and Thursday, traffic management will be confined to the Heritage Bypass. The layout will change as work progresses, so road users are encouraged to take extra care and be aware of changing traffic conditions. Regular stop/go operations will be in place throughout the work where required.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time during the work, follow all temporary traffic management signage and take extra care when passing through the work zone to help keep both road users and work crews safe.

The works will involve removing overgrown roadside vegetation and establishing a vegetation buffer to make future maintenance more effective. These improvements will help maintain a clearer view for travellers.
