Help us make the Far North more accessible
Do you have experience with Far North District Council services, spaces, and facilities while living with a disability? If so, we want to hear from you!
The council is re-establishing its Accessibility Action Group to provide insights and advice about how to improve its operations, so they are more inclusive.
It’s not too late to let us know you’re interested in being a member of the group. Just use the contact details below by noon on Friday next week (12 June 2026).
You may have experience with accessibility barriers, mobility challenges, neurodiversity, sensory impairments, chronic health conditions, caregiving, advocacy, or community support work.
Unique insights gained from this experience can help to identify barriers and support effective, practical change across the district.
You do not need formal qualifications to be a part of the group. A wide range of perspectives is welcome, including from:
- disabled people and tāngata whaikaha
- older adults
- whānau and caregivers
- accessibility advocates
- community organisations
- anyone with experience of barriers in the Far North.
To express your interest or find out more, please contact governance@fndc.govt.nz, or call 09 401 5231 before noon on Friday 12 June 2026.
