Overnight repairs to close Wiroa Rd bridge

Residents and road users are being advised of a planned overnight closure of Wiroa Bridge, near Kerikeri, this week to allow essential repairs to be carried out.

The bridge will be closed from 7pm to 6am for one night only, with work scheduled for either Wednesday 17 June or Thursday 18 June, depending on weather conditions. If wet weather prevents the work from taking place on either night, the repairs will be postponed until the following week.

Contractors will complete asphalt (hot mix) repairs, covering approximately 10 metres on either side of the bridge before resurfacing the bridge deck. The overnight timing has been chosen to minimise disruption for road users during the day.

Traffic management will be in place at key intersections, including Lodore Road and Waikare Road. Signage will be installed to help guide drivers and provide advance notice of the closure.

During the works, residents will continue to have limited access where possible. Other travellers needing to travel through the area will need to use alternative routes via Lodore Road (an unsealed road) or Waimate North Road (a sealed road).

Road users are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow all traffic management directions while the work is underway.
