Duncan Road to close for one day for essential culvert and slip repairs
A section of Duncan Road in Kaitāia will be closed to traffic for one day on Thursday 8 October while contractors install a new culvert as part of slip repairs between Metcalfe Road and Kupuokai Road.
The road will be closed during off-peak hours, from 9am to 4pm, with no detour available. Resident access will be maintained throughout the closure.
Contractor, Far North Roading, has delivered letters to local residents with details of the work. A full closure is required so the culvert crossing can be installed, which is part of a wider programme of slip-repairs at four sites along Duncan Road. Work includes repairing and rebuilding damaged rock walls, removing slip material, realigning part of the road, repairing damaged road surfaces, and improving culverts and stormwater drainage.
Outside the one-day closure, work will continue under single-lane stop/go traffic management, with a temporary 30km/h speed restriction through the worksite.
All work is weather dependent, and the closure date and construction programme may change. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
