VIDEO - Celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori with He Puna Mārama

Nau mai, haere mai! He Puna Mārama, Far North District Libraries, is inviting communities across the rohe to celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori through a series of creative workshops.

Taking place at libraries in Kāeo, Kaitāia, Kaikohe, Kawakawa and Kerikeri, the free workshops offer people of all ages an opportunity to explore kupu Māori in a relaxed and creative way. No booking is required and all materials are provided.

At ‘Kete Kupu’, participants can design and print their own tote bag while exploring Māori words and concepts. ‘He Kupu He Taonga’ invites participants to create personalised clay keychains featuring a meaningful kupu (word), kīwaha (colloquial saying) or whakataukī (Māori proverb).

The team at Far North District Libraries is also encouraging residents to check their local library Facebook pages for additional Te Wiki o te Reo Māori activities taking place throughout the week. Timetables for these activities can be found on the following library Facebook pages:
