Tii Beach and Te Haumi toilets closed after copper theft

Public toilets at Tii Beach in Paihia and nearby Te Haumi have been temporarily closed after copper pipes were stolen overnight on Tuesday.

The theft has forced the closure of both facilities, impacting locals and visitors to the popular coastal areas.

Far North District Council has arranged for plumbers to replace the missing and damaged pipework. The repairs will not include copper pipes. The facilities will reopen as soon as the repairs are completed.

The council maintains 75 public toilets at locations throughout the Far North. These are an important part of the district’s community infrastructure, providing essential facilities for residents and visitors.

The council acknowledges the inconvenience the closures may cause and thanks the hapori for its patience while repairs are carried out.
