Summer Holiday Hours 2025/26
Find the opening hours for council services and facilities during the summer holiday season, Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026.

Most council services and venues will close at midday on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and reopen on Monday 5 January 2026. If you have an urgent enquiry, you can phone 09 401 5200 or 0800 920 029. Call centre staff will be on duty all day, every day, as normal.
Council service centres
- Kaikohe, Kaitāia (Te Ahu), Kerikeri, Kāeo, Rāwene and Kawakawa service centres will close at midday on Wednesday 24 December 2025.
- All service centres will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026.
Te Ahu Museum
- Te Ahu Museum in Kaitāia will close at midday on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and reopens on Monday 5 January 2026.
Libraries
- Libraries at Kawakawa, Kāeo, Kaitāia (Te Ahu), Paihia, Kerikeri (Procter Library) and Kaikohe will close at midday on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and reopens on Monday 5 January 2026.
isite visitor information centres
- Bay of Islands isite at Paihia will be open from 8am-6pm during the Christmas/New Year period, including 10am-2pm on Christmas Day
- Kaitāia (Te Ahu) and Hokianga (Ōpononi) isites are open from 8.30am-5pm during the summer holiday season but closed Christmas Day.
Consents, Alcohol Licensing and LIM Reports
Building consent, resource consent and compliance services offered in the Kerikeri, Kaikohe and Kaitāia service centres are unavailable from Friday 19 December 2025 and most will reopen Monday 5 January 2026.
Anything submitted online will be subject to the conditions below.
Building and Resource Consent Applications
- Building and Resource Consent Applications will be received until Friday 19 December 2025
- Building and Resource Consent Applications will not be lodged and receipted from Monday 22 December 2025. Full processing services resume on Monday 12 January 2026
- Building and resource consents are suspended on 'statutory processing days' between Monday 22 December 2025 and Friday 9 January 2026.
Building Inspections
- The last day for building inspections is Friday 19 December 2025
- Bookings for new inspections from the start of Monday 5 January 2026 can be made during the Christmas period via the online app, subject to availability
- Building inspections will resume Monday 5 January 2026, subject to availability.
Alcohol licensing
- Alcohol Licensing Applications will be received until close of business on Friday 19 December 2025
- Alcohol Licensing Applications will not be processed between Saturday 20 December 2025 and Thursday 15 January 2026 (inclusive) as these are not classified as 'processing/working days' as per the Sale & Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
- Processing of alcohol applications will resume Friday 16 January 2026.
LIM Reports
- LIM applications received up until Friday 5 December 2025 will be issued by Friday 19 December 2025. Those received after 5pm on Friday 5 December 2025 will not be issued until after Saturday 10 January 2026.
Property File requests
- Property File requests received after 12pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 will processed after the office reopens on Monday 5 January 2026.
