Voting packs for Whatuwhiwhi Subdivision electors began arriving in mail boxes from Wednesday this week and can be filled in and posted back immediately. Voters can also hand-deliver voting documents to the Far North District Council’s Kaitaia Service Centre at Te Ahu during normal office hours.

The three-week voting period closes at noon on Thursday 17 September, although those returning voting documents by post should do so before Friday 11 September to ensure they are received before the vote closes.

Four candidates are standing for election to Te Hiku Community Board. They are:

  • Eddie Bellas
  • Boyd Rupapera
  • Whetu Rutene
  • Bill Subritzky.

Residential or ratepayer enrolments can be made up until and including Wednesday 16 September, the day before the close of voting.

Voters wishing to enrol or update their details on the Electoral Commission’s Residential Roll can do so by visiting their local postal agency. They can also phone 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56) or go to www.vote.nz to enrol online.

People who live outside the area, but pay rates in the Whatuwhiwhi Subdivision of the Te Hiku Community Board, can enrol on the Ratepayers Roll. Enrolments can be made by phoning the Electoral Office, Far North District Council on 0800 922 822.
