Appeals

The Council notified decisions on the Proposed District Plan on 30 June 2026, people who made a submission on the Proposed District Plan had the ability to appeal to the Environment Court.

The appeal period for these provisions closed at 5pm on 12 August 2026.

Following the close of the appeal period, there is a 15-day period within which other parties can join an appeal proceeding. This is restricted to those who made a submission on the subject matter of the appeal or who have an interest greater than the general public.

Far North District Council does not conduct the appeal process and is a party to the proceedings. Direct any correspondence on the process to the Environment Court.

A copy of the appeals received on the Proposed District Plan - Decisions version are available by the links below. Council will make available the District Plan - Appeals Version, which identifies the provisions subject to appeal, as soon as possible.
