The council’s “groundbreaking” State of the Far North Address has been named a finalist in the annual Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) SuperLocal Awards to be announced next month.

Far North District Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Te Hiku-based Te Rarawa, the second agreement of this type that the council has signed with iwi.

Far North District Council has adopted Te Pātukurea – Kerikeri Waipapa Spatial Plan, setting a clear, long-term framework for coordinated urban expansion focused on existing centres and supported by infrastructure that is efficient, resilient, and more affordable.

Far North District Council has launched Far North Atlas/Kohinga Mahere, an innovative digital mapping platform that brings property and planning information together in one simple, user-friendly web app.

A range of safety improvements to local sports hubs and environmental initiatives were supported with funding approvals by Bay of Islands-Whangaroa and Te Hiku Community Boards at their meetings in June.
